College Zombeo and Juliet Production Receives Rave Reviews

Mt Maria College, Petrie students wowed audiences in their recent stage production of Zombeo and Juliet – a modern take on Shakespeare’s classic play Romeo and Juliet.

The cast and crew included over 30 students from year seven to year-12.

Mt Maria College, Petrie Drama Coordinator, Jeanne Rae said rehearsals had been taking place throughout the year and that the show was very well received by the audience.

“We have been rehearsing all year and the students have dedicated not only school rehearsals, but also their weekends and after school,” Jeanne Rae said.

“The students were met with rave reviews from parents, friends and teachers alike.

“Their commitment to the show was evident with the final product.”

Mt Maria College, Petrie Class of 2016 graduate, Ben McGill, along with other students and staff from the art department, volunteered and designed and painted the backdrops for the show.

Acknowledging the hard work and support of the students, staff, P & F and parents, it was the students themselves that Ms Rae was most proud.

“For some of our students, getting up in front of an audience was a very daunting prospect, however they overcame their fear and shone on the stage,” Ms Rae exclaimed.

“I am so proud of the student players, extras and makeup artists.

“With a full house and a fantabulous performance Zombeo and Juliet was a huge success.”

The show was attended by parents, teachers and students of the college – along with the year seven cohort of 2018 as special guests.
